Our furniture arrives with a natural finish, enhanced with a light coat of linseed oil, but without any stain. Depending on your furniture's exposure to the elements, maintenance needs may vary.

For pieces fully exposed outdoors, you have the choice to let the Ipe wood naturally weather into a pewter gray or to apply an oil finish occasionally. For furniture in covered or shaded areas, oiling is rarely necessary. Avoid using wood sealants or varnish on Ipe furniture.

To maintain the natural color, we recommend oiling with linseed oil 2 to 3 times a year. Linseed oil is easily available and can be applied with a rag. Wipe off any excess after 30 minutes. Alternatively, Penofin Exotic Hardwood Finish, a UV-resistant oil, is excellent for Ipe wood and can be applied 1 to 2 times a year.

Before the first oiling, allow your furniture to weather for 30 to 60 days for better oil penetration. If cleaning is required, such as for tree sap or mildew, use a stiff brush with soapy water or a standard wood cleaner. For heavily weathered pieces, sanding before oil application can refresh the wood's color.

Our Ipe furniture is designed for easy assembly. On each product page, we indicate if the piece requires partial assembly or none at all. Items needing partial assembly are provided as a kit, with the majority of the piece pre-assembled. Clear instructions are included, and assembly typically takes about half an hour per item, requiring only basic handy skills.

If your furniture includes dowels, gluing them is optional during assembly. However, note that glued furniture cannot be returned under our 30-day guarantee. If you choose to glue, we recommend outdoor wood glues like Titebond or Gorilla Glue and advise allowing at least 6 hours for the glue to set before using the furniture.

Our furniture is exclusively made from 100% solid, kiln-dried, premium-grade Ipe wood, ensuring uniform coloration and the absence of knots. The main structural joints employ sturdy mortise and tenon construction, complemented by brass and exterior-grade hardware. That's why we offer a full refund of the purchase price within sixty (60) days of receipt for any reason. To be eligible for a refund, the product must be in its original, unassembled, and unweathered condition, and returned in the original packaging. Please note that the customer is responsible for return shipping charges. Before returning any item, contact us for a Return Authorization. Keep in mind that cushions, made to order, are not eligible for return under this guarantee.

Our furniture is backed by a limited three-year warranty, reflecting our confidence in its quality and durability. This warranty is valid for furniture purchased through our website and is extended to the original owner. It covers defects in material and workmanship for three years from the purchase date, including protection against wood rot and insect infestation. Defects are defined as imperfections that affect the product's utility. This warranty applies under conditions of normal use and does not cover damage from abuse, commercial use, acts of nature, non-structural surface cracks, or color variations due to weathering.

If a defect covered by this warranty occurs, we may either repair the item, provide repair services at no cost, or furnish a replacement part or piece. All warranty-related repairs must be approved by IPE Wood Outdoor Furniture, and unauthorized repairs will void the warranty. Note that this warranty does not cover shipping damage, which must be reported to us immediately upon receipt. Please retain all product packaging for a short period in case return shipping is needed.
